The data-base builder never looks at the content of the files, just
their names.  And apparently their sizes, although I haven't been able
to find in the source code where this happens.  When I say "size" I
mean the size as would be indicated by "ls -l", not reading through
the file to count the bytes.

Also this happens too magically at the file size of exactly 2 Gigabytes.
