I wouldn't have a working system without Josh and Gus. The depth of my gratitude is boundless, and I show it by arguing with them, especially Gus. I'm very proud of me on these two questions, the yum upgrade and the data base thing, because, as my 5-yr-old would would say, I did it ALL BY MYSELF. For the record, mysql had told me that recordedseek was corrupt, so I renamed it to see if it got autocreated (if it was a scratch table). Then I forgot. But not entirely. I had enough vestigial memory to go to the directory and do a ls recordedseek*. When I saw one called *-old, I named it back, shut down mysqld, and repaired it. All is now well, _and_ it fixed a bug that had baffled me (sound leaking through during FF, screwing it up). I'm sure I got the corruption from rebooting during assumed lock-ups. I now know that the problem is that commflagging and transcoding hit swap, and I plan to double my memory to a modest 1 G on payday. Thus is life for the CB. In the meantime, both are turned off. I have to FF through commercials, but hey, it's working again :-) ... and I made my goal of having a stable (?) working system by football season, hopefully contributing to the domestic tranquility 8-)) -- Lan Barnes SCM Analyst Linux Guy Tcl/Tk Enthusiast Biodiesel Brewer -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
