Gus,
I have dual Dell 2405 LCDs (24" Widescreens at 1920x1200 each). If I
look dead on at a single screen, then there are very little and easy to
ignore anomalies at the very outer edges. If I look dead on at the
middle of the pair (where the edges meet), even with the screens angled
to mimic a concave/parabolic wrap-around, it is so wide that I need to
turn my head to see the outer edges of the desktop... additionally the
desktop is wider than my field of vision wearing glasses.
Yes, it is always clearer and more evenly back-lit when you look at an
LCD head on. At least currently, an LCD will not out perform a CRT in
these two aspects. The greater the angle, the less you will appreciate
the LCD. When I first got the screens I noticed it more. I was coming
from dual 19" Trinitrons. It helps to find the right brightness for you.
I do catch myself moving around to view my work more dead-on. I never
thought about it until just now when I caught myself leaning over to my
left as I write this email which is at the left edge of the left
screen.
Overall, I'll take the massive increase in desktop area over the
limitations any day. In no case do I consider the limitations as extreme
or miserable. Perhaps check the professional reviews of the two to
determine if there is a difference between our models.
Good Luck,
Mike
