These directions might be helpful as a resource to post on one of your servers:

If you have GoogleEarth installed and click on the KMZ Download link
(http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/kml/conus.kmz), it will open right up
in GoogleEarth. This display the latest MODIS-derived data as point
files of fire detection. Only updated every 12 hours, but it includes a
12-hour timeline into the past.
