Well, the term launch codes is actually a misnomer. There is a lot of stuff that has to happen before weapons release is authorized. None of which are actually called launch codes. I used the term as a generic "all the info required to authorize a launch" Hollywood movies are the wrong place to get your information about how things work in real life.
