zenoss is better than Nagios IMHO. I used Nagios for a few years but have recently been deploying Zenoss and really liking it. It integrates monitoring, MRTG/Cacti functionality, machine/inventory database, and various other things. It can get monitoring data via various sources including ssh into the box and not just snmp.
