OBSERVATION: The playback and sound hesitation is on the Myth box FE, not
on the remote FE. This indicates to me that a possible root cause is a
driver configuration problem on the Myth box's video card.
Here is the entry in /etc/sysconfig/hwconf:
class: VIDEO
bus: PCI
detached: 0
driver: nvidiafb
desc: "nVidia Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8x]"
video.xdriver: nv
vendorId: 10de
deviceId: 0181
subVendorId: 0000
subDeviceId: 0000
pciType: 1
pcidom: 0
pcibus: 1
pcidev: 0
pcifn: 0
This is from lsmod:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] etc]$ /sbin/lsmod |grep vid
video 19909 0
video_buf 27717 3 cx8800,cx88xx,bttv
nvidia 4718160 32
videodev 29633 6 cx8800,cx88xx,bttv,ivtv
v4l2_common 26945 9
cx8800,bttv,cx25840,msp3400,saa7115,tuner,ivtv,cx2341x,videodev
i2c_core 24897 14
i2c_ec,cx88xx,bttv,lirc_i2c,wm8775,cx25840,msp3400,saa7115,tuner,ivtv,i2c_i801,i2c_algo_bit,nvidia,tveeprom
v4l1_compat 16581 3 cx8800,ivtv,videodev
Finally, this from /etc/modprobe.conf:
# nvidia kernel module
alias char-major-195 nvidia-1_0-9755
alias nvidia nvidia-1_0-9755
Now I am very aware of my limitations in understanding this stuff, but I
see these as inconsistent and probably wrong. hwconf says the driver is
nv, but modprobe.conf says nvidia-1_0-9755, set by ... who? Me? kudzu?
HTHWIK? And is nvidia-1_0-9755 right for that card?
I need adult supervision. Christmas with stuttering playback ("The
Nutcracker," "Celtic Woman: A Christmas Carol") is the holiday pits. Oh,
and then there's football ...
