YES. ssh-agent is awesome. I have been using it for years. I just use ssh-agent on my desktop and my automatic ssh key installer script so when I log in my public key is installed and now I can always log in passwordlessly. I keep a locking screensaver on my desktop which is also in a location with acceptable physical security so ssh-agent really works great. I don't have to remember any machine passwords except the password for my ssh key so I can authenticate to it/decrypt it when I first log into my workstation.
