I've done research out the wazoo, and have come to this conclusion: - ndiswrapper and the 4 K stack freeze up. It's that simple. Resistance is futile.
- there is a rtl8187 driver available/built into kernels 2.6.22 and later - RHEL/CentOS ship with 2.6.18 and a 4K stack, and that's life, go suck on it. - Some people have had success with the FC6 2.6.22 kernel over CentOS 5.1. I see several options, none of which appears perfect: o recompile the CentOS 5.1 stock kernel w/ 4K disabled o try the FC6 kernel o buy a new interface I'm going to try them in the order listed, starting with a recompile. But to remind you, my kernel isn't compiling. So: * use menuconfig to make the change and try again * yum a forced refresh or kernel-devel * *next* Comments welcome.
