Foundations is Linux based.. There is a OSS version of Nitix. A
commerical version and there is the Lotus Foundations version Later on
this year there is a Lotus Foundations communications server. The interesting
thing about Nitix is that it is a OSS Linux based, but not a distro in the
conventional sense (http://open.nit.ca/wiki/index.php?page=OpenSourceProjects
), . Nitix was developed from the ground up and uses a much less disk
space than conventional Linux. Nitix can boot up in less than 10
seconds when the flash drive is used

Subject: Nitix now Lotus Foundations arrives

Today IBM released Lotus Foundations formerly Nitix. Lotus Foundations build
upon and enhances Nitix. Lotus Foundations now includes Sametime, Quickr and
Lotus Notes 8.

Nitix now Lotus Foundations arrives:

This product is designed for businesses 5 or more users. Lotus Foundations is
designed to compete directly against Microsoft Small business Server. I have
been waiting and cajoling IBM about competing in the SMB market for some time.
I am very excited about this. Awhile back I believe Tracy brought a Nitix
package to the KPLUG meeting.

Sametime supports VOIP and is the leading enterprise secure IM. This version of
Sametime is for site intranets only.

Quickr is for designed for shared document based collaboration portal (similar
to Sharepoint services )and supports secure enterprise web 2.0.

Lotus Notes 8.5 or Exchange-IT is included as well.

PS: A lot of the older Nitix links are dead, because the site is in transition
over to IBM.
