My guess is there are databases like that .. but - this item isn't on the list known to (your) linux distro - although I don't know what/where the list is, somebody must ;-) >From a glance at /var/log/Xorg.0 I think the answer may involve one of those acronyms I can never remember -- EDID DDC DPMS .. yeah, I think it's EDID.
