There are lots of local Juniper resellers. For the hardware buys I have
lined up for the specific models I need, the devices are commodities. In
that I mean that I do not need anything but a low dollar delivery of the
widgets in a timely fashion. The widgets are a predetermined, known
model number. I'll be buying spare devices, and the support is provided
by Juniper... just gimmie... cheap. :o)

CDW is 15% higher in price on the hardware (even with "Extranet
pricing") than the source I chose for the first purchase. They need to
fumble around internally to get a price on the NBD Hardware replacement.
I called Dell, CDW, SecureHQ.com and TechDefenders.com.

One of my account team at Dell called me back with Juniper on the
phone. The price was about 10% above final chosen vendor. We are a Dell
Premier Partner. But, I had some difficulty with a previous larger
Juniper purchase through them. Although I have to say that my Dell
experience is pretty darn good in general.

TechDefenders did finally call back. The guy who called back was
apologetic for not getting back to me right away. I asked him why there
was no one else to take my call when I called and he let it slip that he
is the only sales person. That's fine, really, but if they are going to
operate like that, that guy needs to live with his phone on his hip 24x7
if that's gonna fly. I do, so I expect him to also.

I ended up buying via telephone from SecureHQ.com at the end of the day
before the holiday weekend. The woman I talked to was an interesting
character. The only problem I have with them is that they are going to
get the gear out of distribution (probably from CA), have it shipped to
them in TN, then back to CA. Totally inefficient, and an unhappy delay
in delivery. However this is only a big deal on the first order because
I will be keeping one ready to go on the shelf and one spare for
replacements. When I was at SAIC, my group used these guys with good
results.
