IMNSHO, svn is a deeply flawed tool, especially considering the examples of best practices available when it was written. Nevertheless, it fulfills its goal of being a compelling drop-in replacement for cvs, which was (not "is") much more limited. Also, perhaps regrettably, svn has the commercial mind space for OSS SCM. svn jobs appear, git and hg don't, and nobody wants to ask the stupid SCM consultant for a recommendation. Also, and sad to say, enterprises that try to save money on OSS frequently try to save money on consultants. -- Lan Barnes SCM Analyst Linux Guy Tcl/Tk Enthusiast Biodiesel Brewer -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
