As long as the argument list doesn't get too long.  Given that on most
Linux systems, the command line and the environment is limited to 128K, it
isn't too hard to make happen.

But this problem seems to have turned into a discussion of multiple ways of
solving the probem.  <sarcasm>Perhaps we should post a solution in each of
the commonly used scripting languages, and possibly some even less commonly
used.</sarcasm>
