Um the *Internet* forced a renegotiation of the social contract.  We built an
amazing world wide copy/distribution machine.  Why wouldn't you expect
people to use it?

People were making bootleg copies of records via cassettes for a long time and
*that* didn't force a renegotiation of the social contract.
