You're too late this time, my question has already been answered
earlier, later in the thread. earlier--later?
But for the record, I was trying to evaluate a string containing an
escape sequence. Composing the escape sequence programmatically was the
starting point.
Strange the way one tends to pop off questions without setting the
context. Oh well, I suppose everyone falls back to newbie behavior
occasionally.
