Sometimes I think it is just as much fun to read articles about Lisp as to program Lisp itself. I liked this article and I personally despise car and cdr. I've heard arguments why they are better than first and rest in some cases but my aesthetic sensibilities still cringe.
I like the Lisp articles also. The Lisp community seems like a fun crowd. You don't get that kind of thing from the PHP crowd for example.
Once you learn what they mean it matters little what you type to make them work. Which is better: dog or perro? Does it really matter once you have the thing associated with the word? After just a short time programming lisp you will find that it doesn't matter a bit what it is called. This is why they endure.
