Relational database design and development (4th Dimension v. 2004x and
v. 11 SQL experience a plus)

Responsibilities:
Develop, and maintain in-house application written in 4D client/ server
environment and operating on local network for all Macintosh shop. 27
users with 4D Server 2004.7.
Manage upgrade of software to 4D v.11 SQL within next 12 month.
Applicant needs to understand the conversion process and upgrade path.
Main application has been in place since 2001 and is robust and dynamic.
Applicant will be charged with learning the core business, understanding
the existing program methodology, enhancing the core application.
Develop methodology to run the Server application as compiled rather
than interpreted. (Requires compliance with compilation rules and
variable clean up.)
Applicant must be able to work with management and users in a small
business environment. Verbal and written communication skills must be
well-developed.
Currently database administration and network administration are handled
by a principal of the firm. Applicant will be trained as back up to both
responsibilities.
Long term goals will require web services for sales staff, customers,
communication with external vendors via XML, etc.
Any other tasks or responsibilities deemed necessary for the successful
running of the database and integration into the business model.
Salary and Benefits:
