On FC5 with gnumeric 1.63, and OpenOffice.org 2.0.2 I can save a 2-sheet
(ultra simple) spreadsheet as excel 5.0/95 (or 97, as well) and read
that ok in gnumeric or OOcalc. Hmmm, I _am_ using 64bit rpms.

Alright, I added some cell formatting and that worked ok, too.
I'm just using A+B=C stuff, though .. one such per sheet.

And I don't do anything explicit with ssconvert -- maybe that's it?

I see that the save as to OO OSASIS says "Unfinished", but I didn't try
that, because saving excel format worked for me. Your simple s/s is
surely more complex than mine.

Maybe you could try downloading a later rpm from fc6 or 7 (rpmbuild the
src.rpm if the binary doesn't install).

Interesting. After I finish my tax returns (for which I was using
gnumeric to gather input data) I will look at this some more.

On my FC3 system gnumeric gives me a choice of about ten different
output formats when I click File -> Save As
[EMAIL PROTECTED] tmp]$ grep gnumeric /var/log/rpmpkgs
gnumeric-1.2.13-10.i386.rpm

On the FC6 system, I get a choice of 3: Gnumeric XML, Comma separated
values, Text export. Looks like features in the program disappeared.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Tax]$ grep gnumeric /var/log/rpmpkgs
gnumeric-1.6.3-5.fc6.i386.rpm

This _is_ the latest available rpm, according to yum. I remain, confused.
