So, it's possible a fix is "in-the-works". ..But, how about collecting some more information? If you know it, what is the make and model of your dvd. If you run ls -ld /dev/dvd* /dev/cd* what do you get? (Just cut and paste the results into your reply) Likewise with the results of ls -R /proc/ide and cdrecord -scanbus That's a start.
