We need more details to understand the problem and symptoms better.

1) What network interfaces do you have on your system. That is, what
device names are shown in the left column when you run
  ifconfig -a
(You don't need to mention "lo", the loopback device)

2) What exactly do you mean by the part
 "..when I try to use.."

I presume you configured your networking to use the assigned IP. (And,
maybe the Debian system was tried first?), what tool did you use to
configure with, and what settings do you recall entering.

3)
If it _is_ the debian, can you post the contents of
  /etc/network/interfaces.
if FC6, post the contents of all files like
  /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-*
 (you can skip the ifcfg-lo)

If you wish you can disguise any sensitive IP info with "A.B.C.D" or
similar.

4) what exactly do you mean by
"..it seems like they work for a minute"
and is there anything more definite you can say about
"they stop working, like the system goes unstable"

If you could fill in some of these unknowns, then we can probably start
to understand the problem better.

..jim
