Is there a simple or obvious fix for this problem that I have missed?
How do you use multiple wireless mice in an office environment where pc's are in close proximity?

Are the wireless mice IR or Bluetooth? If Bluetooth, it's a simple matter to pair each mouse only with the machine it will be controlling. If it's infrared, depending on the manufacturer you might be able to similarly "pair" each mouse with its respective USB base station. However, though I've run an IR wireless mouse before, I haven't had two in close proximity so I couldn't give a definitive answer.

The mouse is USB that I have plugged into the PS/2 port.

If it's the kind that has a "base station" (probably with blinking red lights) hooked up to the computer, then the mouse communicates wirelessly to the base station, that's infrared.

If it's a Logitech muse, I think there's a button on the base labeled "Connect" or something similar that you need to push, then you press a small recessed button on the mouse itself-- probably one of those that you need a paper clip to access.

It depends on the features of the individual mice whether or not two will be able to operate near each other without causing interference.
