I am thinking of buying a laptop for home use. I would like to run basic applications like Firefox, Open Office and probably Amarok for music. The OS would be Ubuntu or Kubuntu. That is pretty basic stuff so I don't think I need a lot of horsepower. I am thinking new, around 1.6-1.8GHz Dual Core, minimum 1Gig of memory and 80-120 Gig hard drive. I do need wireless 802.11 b/g. So, my question are;

1. Are there any makes or brands of laptops I should avoid?
2. Is there a brand or model of laptop that is better supported by the Linux community? 3. Is there a way that I can be certain that the 802.11 in the laptop is going to be recognized by Ubuntu? 4. Does anybody have any specific recommendations for a laptop to fit my needs? (New or used?)
