I need help. I signed on to a web site that puts up a new streaming
message every week. When I click on the link I get this; ERROR an error
occurred This file is encrypted and can not be played. What should I
do now. I did not find any help on the UBUNTU site.

I use a COMPAQ Presario V3000 with AMD sempron disk, 128Meg
memory, nvidia graphics card. OS is UBUNTU (Gutsy) 7.10.
Anyone who could help you will need more information. The name of the
file, or the exact link so it can be looked at.
The site is http://www.fathercorapi.com/ --> weekly wisdom -->
schedule --> click here for video stream Then I get the error
message. I'm sorry but that is all I know.

That's a Windows Media Player stream. I know it's probably possible to
get that to play somehow in Linux, but I've never cared enough about
WMP compatibility to try.

In any case, even on my Mac (which is set up to play WM files), those
particular links aren't working. When I try to play them, it keeps
saying that "The movie contains an invalid data reference." I can't
even get the audio-only streams to work.

Out of curiousity, I thought I'd try it via my Windows XP Pro SP2 box and see what happens.

I've no idea what, exactly it means, but when I click the link, I get a popup box that says:

External Protocol Request

Requested link:
mms://wm.streamingmediahosting.com/santacruzmedia/ww.wmv

Application: Windows Media Player

If you were not expecting this request it may be an attempt to exploit a weakness in that other program. Cancel this request unless you are sure it's not malicious.
