Antivirus scan

I use Ubuntu 8.04 on a compaq presario v3000.  I think I have picked up 
something that is making the OS do weird things.  Like losing names on 
the tool bar.  Can anyone recommend a good antivirus detection and 
clean-up application?  Thanks in advance.
