The May 2009 meeting will be hosting the annual San Diego Computer Society (SDCS) elections. For those of you who don't know, KPLUG is actually a Special Interest Group (SIG) of the SDCS, and is what makes us a 501(c)3 non-profit group. The SDCS has a slate of officers up for election:
President Vice President Secretary Treasurer 4 Board members for normal alternate year 1 Board member to fill a vacancy The first four officers serve one year terms. The Board members serve two year terms, with four elected in even years and four elected in odd years. Voting will take place at the beginning of the meeting and shouldn't impact the presentation time very much. These elections are important because it helps us meet our requirements as specified in the bylaws, and keeps us a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. In order to vote, you must be a member of KPLUG (and by extension, a member of SDCS). You are a member of KPLUG if you have paid your $6 dues in the last year. I have records of who is paid up. Some of you will be getting a private e-mail from me sometime later asking you to renew. This will be a great opportunity for you to do that. Not only will you get to vote for your representation on the Board, but you can stick around and hear me give the main presentation :) Gus Wirth Membership Chairman Kernel-Panic Linux User Group -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-newbie
