Good day

I have a partially completed KR2 (original design) which i bought some time ago. I need to complete the landing gear (removed the original retracted type & replace with fixed), engine and instrument panel & electrics. While hangered the elevator was basically destroyed when someone drove into it.

I now need to rebuild the elevator completely. My problem is this one is balanced so there is a counterweight attached to the spar inside body. I need to remove it but will need to cut into some areas to access it.

What would be the best option? Cut into the side of the body? I think this is structurally not good. Else remove the tail fin? Would not like to cut the wooden spars at all! So will need to carefully need to cut out skin/foam and not damage spars?

I was thinking that in the process I should reduce pitch sensitivity by enlarging the tail area as well. So removing the aft spar of the horizontal stabilizer and install a longer one.

Suggestions?

Regards
Deon
