I thought that also...what could it hurt? But several times I've wished 
I hadn't done that, so I could remove the WAF for some reason or 
another...mounting the wing tanks was one, and replacing them entirely 
was another (if the 3/8" main bolt holes wallow out, or the mount is 
damaged somehow).  He says his are painted, so the joint would only be 
as good as the paint anyway.

There is something to be said for epoxying the WAFs to the spar to keep 
them from squirming around. I think Marty Roberts had his wallow out the 
spar a bit and it rubbed a hole in the fuel tank (or something along 
those lines), so it's happened at least once.  But given the number of 
bolts going through the spars, it would take a lot of working back and 
forth to make that happen.  But I think we all agree that Marty's wing 
attach fittings were subjected to cruel and unusual punishment...
