Dan said, > "Hangar space for the KRs that fly in??? Facilities to hold forums? Hooters or similar breastaurants close by? Near Hotels or Camping facilities? Horsey rides? Near commercial air transportation?" For goodness sakes Dan, this is Dallas! All those things and more are there in abundance, especially horsey rides. I would enjoy the Dallas area, especially if the Gathering is held around now, or even later in October than now. With climate changing, Gathering dates need to be moved more into the fall months if we're going to get together anywhere in or near the southwest part of the U.S. Today, October 6th, it's 82? in Dallas. For me, 82? is right on the edge. My idea of perfect temperatures are what we had at MMV. The first week of September is clearly the ideal time of year for McMinnville but first week of September in Dallas is a hellhole. Not as bad as Chino was, but still - with that Gulf humidity anything above 80 is going to have us running for the air conditioners. I'd enjoy Dallas but not if its a sweatbox. Time of year needs to be considered in conjunction with location. Mt. Vernon has always been extraordinarily nice but Gatherings were held mid to late September when I've been there. As we consider changes in location my suggestion is that time of year needs to be given equal consideration. There is no reason to suffer when we have the entire country to choose from. I would also mention that having hangar space for our planes is of no concern to me. I carry tie down ropes and packing tape to seal the canopy gaps. Naturally I don't leave my plane outside when I'm home but for the few days of a Gathering it doesn't hurt it a bit to sit outside, even in rain as at MMV. Why is hangar space considered to be an issue? Really . . . I'm not being snarky. I don't see the "what for" of it. In the middle of winter with snow, ice and cold well then sure, a hangar is nice. Otherwise . . .? Mike KSEE ____________________________________________________________ Meet the Graviteers: Ezekiel Victor My name is Zeke!
