Just a little input on the trim thing here. Years ago when I had a
Citabria, it had a fairly fast acting trim tab (slide bar versus a
wheel) and I used it to land with several times.... just to see if it
could be done. 
With varying the power (slowly) and using the trim tab, a good landing
could be made most of the time, and a survivable one all the time. 
I opt for a simple, manually controlled trim tab on my KR. Balanced of
course.
