Ray,
    I used Permatex High-Temp RTV Silicone 26B.  around the outside edge to
hold the SS steel to the Fiberfrax.  It is good for 650 deg. F.  It just has
to hold things in plae until you get the motor mount bolted on.  Later I cut
the fiberfrax back about 1/8 inch then mixed up some resin and flox and
filled it in.  When cured. sand it down.  It makes a clean edge.
