Gosh.  Now that's almost embarrassing.  

The A&P ticket, then hopefully the I/A rating in a few years is part of the 
exit strategy from my current job into a retirement job that I'll hopefully 
enjoy.

I got the A&P ticket yesterday.  Thanks for the kind works.

Yep, Jeff is now an A&P, having successfully negotiated the FAA written and 
practical tests and having learned how to dismantle and rejoin Velcro 
assemblies in the field, without calibrated tools or safety wire ;o)  Here 
is one A&P who knows and understands experimental, homebuilt aircraft!
