Hi Steve, The GRS ballistic chute connects to my engine mount firewall bolts. This means that if ever deployed I would be hanging tail down when descending. While this sounds bad, it is not, the tail of the aircraft is a crumple zone and my back and head are fully supported. Remember I would only be using this in the case of a catastrophic failure or a last ditch to shorten an emergency landing. I expect the KR2 to be a write off but me and my passenger to be OK. Hopefully the engine and the instruments (the expensive parts) will be reusable.
The original engine mount, which was on the aircraft when purchased (don't want anyone thinking I made it), was total overkill. It restricted airflow under the cowling and I saved just under 10kg when replaced with the more conventional tubular engine mount. regards Barry Kruyssen Cairns, Australia RAA 19-3873 k...@bigpond.com http://www.users.bigpond.com/kr2/kr2.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: Stephen Jacobs Hi Barry K Where do the cute cables attach to on your airplane? (what would the attitude be whilst suspended by the chute). The first engine mount looked pretty robust, why did you change it to a tubular construction?
