Just to set the record straight, I removed the rear starter from my engine
because of a decision I made sometime after Mark Langfords crank broke. There
was some talk that the rear starter may have played a role in the breakage due
to the harmonics. That has been dispelled as a contributing factor now but
during that time I made the decision to make my engine as close as possible a
William Wynne duplicate so I ordered William's front starter setup. I talked to
William and he told me that he did not think that the rear starter was not a
contributor to the breakage and gave me the opportunity to cancel my order. My
answer was that I had made the decision and I'm standing by it. An expensive
decision, yes, but who knows more about making a Corvair fly than William. I'm
still thinking about nitrating the crank. BTY, that starter has started my
engine on William's test stand at CC#8.
