I believe the articles you are referring to describe Fred Keller's experiences rather than Joe Flechtner's - Fred's adventures were written up in Sport Aviation and can be found on Don Reid's website.
I did a search of the old KR newsletters (CD) and could not find anything on Joe Flechtner.
