Mark, when cruising west from 180 deg to 359 deg magnetic, you should be at even thousand feet plus 500ft. When cruising east from 0 to 179 deg magnetic, you should be at odd thousand feet plus 500ft. VFR rules applies above 3000 AGL and below 18,000ft MSL.
