I lied about flying my plane again today. I under estimated how long it would take to finish it up. And although I've never cared much about how this engine looks as long as it always gets me back home, I put forth a little effort to make it a little less embarassing. I'm not wild about the gray stuff, but it's powder coated, so its good for a long time. I'll try a little harder on appearances when I do the 3100cc engine. Probably the biggest improvement is the dipstick tube that allows checking the oil without pulling the top of the cowling. This incarnation of the 2700cc engine is finally ready to go back on the plane tomorrow morning. A buddy will show up in the morning to help me move it back to the engine mount, and I should be flying it before sunset. See http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/corvair/95hp/270hrs/06090201.jpg .
