NetHeads, I'm back from vacation and got to fly today for the first time in almost two weeks. I tried out the new transponder and it works fine. Dropped in on 5 airports and did about 12 landings. The sunset was looking so good I loitered around waiting for the sun to disappear, because it just kept getting better. . The last one I took is at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/flights/skies/061018182m.jpg , and it was worth the wait. What appears to be the sun in the photo is actually a reflection of the sun, as it was well below the horizon at that point. To the best of my knowledge, no FAA regs were violated while taking this picture.
I'm flying down to Birmingham Saturday morning for breakfast and to do a dog and pony show for the EAA chapter there. The "airport" is not even on the sectional. The guy gave me directions via I-65 and US-31, and it's only 2000' grass. Should be interesting. If anybody's interested in showing up, I have GPS coordinates...
