It may work out OK, but in by ductwork practice and judgment you can get
more air flow [less resistance in ductwork] if you keep the exhaust cross
section area the same as the inlet area. Use bell month inlets and outlets
to the duct.  Remember velocity pressure turn into static pressure when the
flow meets duct resistance. If the resistance is high flow decreases.
