51% Rule does not mean 51% of the work but rather 51% of the tasks required to
build the airplane.

I bought a project that was not finished, you can see what it looked like on
my web site. I finished it and got a letter from the previous owner stating
that I had done 51 percent of the work. I don't think that was necessary,
but it is what the inspector asked for.

I have my eye on a project that was started many years ago that
is in a hanger waiting to be finished. My question is if I purchace this
project how should I go about getting it certified? Should I let on as
though I have built the entire thing, having it inspected as I go form this
point on or what? As I understand it, it is past the boat stage with the
tail feathers built but not attached as well as one wing finished and the
other ready to be covered. I dont know if there is very much documentation
on what has been done but I will find all that out when I go look at the
project. What do you guys think the best aproach would be for this type of
project? Thanks for your reply
