As long as the washer is just taking up space, which is all it is 
doing there should be no problem. As long as everything is as tight as is 
recomended ie torque values, what could it hurt? It's just acting as an 
extention of the shaft. If everything is a proper fit there should be no 
problem at all. I try not to get involved in this kind of thing as there are 
as many opinions as there are readers. Just remember to keep it simple and 
you cant go wrong. It's much better to add a washer to get your clearance 
than it is to rebuild an entire cowling or move your entire engine forward 
to gain the clearance. Put your washer or spacer or what ever you want to 
call it in, torque it down to the spec. and forget it and go flying :) Eric
