Ladies and gents; On of the few advantages of building my plane over so many years is to have seen the answers to most of these questions. Bending the boat was covered in detail with some neat fixtures written up by Monte Miller. It is in the Nov 1986 edition of the Quarterly. This is the paper edition that I think someone has on cd. If you can't find this definitive article in print somewhere, email me and I will fax (do they still do that?) or copy it for you. Build an airplane, don't re-invent it.
