Hi Guys and Girls; This model of the KR-2 for the X-Plane v8.50 & v8.60 is a model of how my KR-2 will hopefully look after the rebuild is completed. I have been working on this X-Plane model for almost three years and except for a good looking animated pilot, I think it is finally done to my satisfaction. I have had a lot of help along the way from people in the X-Plane community as I learned from them how to do the things needed to build this model, among them is Ameet Savant, Andy Goldstein, Bob Feaver who has been a tremendous help, Jim McNeill, Sander Tel and others along the way. I built this X-Plane model of the KR-2 so that the builders of the real world KR-2 could enjoy flying it as they were building there own dream plane or more importantly they could try out whatever (what if?) they wanted to, to see how it would effect the real plane. I made the fuselage and the wheel fairings to match my real planes dimensions. The wings are KR-2S (23.4 ft. wingspan) with the AS-5046 airfoil in the default version although I have included all of the airfoils commonly used on the KR-2 and KR-2S. These airfoils were provided by several people along the way and I cannot remember who provided which ones but I want to thank all of them for there help. The tail plane or empennage is stock KR-2 in the default model. The engine is a V W - Type 4, at 2600cc displacement which produces about 92 hp @ 3600 rpm. The prop is a 54" tuned to 170 mph. The Canopy is built the way I want mine to look and operate when finished. It is animated (opens and closes) by the use of the # 5 & 6 keys at the top of the keyboard . It was built by Bob Feaver who is very talented in the use of the AC3D program and he has tried his best to teach me how to do it on my own, he enjoys teaching. He also built the cockpit. The full width instrument panel is built to suit my needs and is fully functional in the 3-D mode and is best experienced this way when flying. You can change the panel to suit your needs easily in "PlaneMaker". The real beauty of this KR-2 model for the X-Plane program is in the "PlaneMaker" program that is included with X-Plane. You can easily and quickly (if you know how) change the wings or airfoils, horizontal stabilizer, verticle stabilizer, landing gear, instrument panel, lights, engine, propeller or whatever you want to change to make it the way you want your KR-2 or KR-2S to look and perform. You can even paint it up the way you want it to look in any paint program. The flight model has been tested by me and others and as the X-Plane program has improved over time, so has the flight model. I really don't think it can get much more realistic without getting bugs on your windshield but then again, every time I say that, it gets better. This has been a copy of the readme file included with the KR-2 zip file. If anyone wants a copy of the KR-2 to fly for themselves, just e-mail me and I'll send it to you. I'll also try to post it on the KR Forum. Regards Myron (Dan) Freeman Indpls, Ind. 46203 USA. Home of the 2007 World Champion Indpls, Colt's mfreem...@indy.rr.com
