Sid,

It's glazing the discs that creates a problem, not the pads.  The pads 
themselves should be glazed smooth.  I have glazed the discs on my other plane 
from doing heavy braking on landings.  The result is that they require a tiny 
bit more brake pressure, but they squeal and howl like the brakes on an 
airliner whenever I use them at taxi speeds.  Both planes are using 5:00x5 
Cleveland brakes.

Regardless of whether you season the pads at all, or manage to glaze the discs, 
I think you'll find the 5:00x5 Clevelands will provide superior braking for 
your KR.
