Many VW guys like straight 30 wt, which you can't go wrong with. I believe that Steve Bennett recommends 20 - 50 for summer and 15 - 40 for winter, or something like that, but not synthetic. I have a 2276 that was a 2180, and I run 20 - 50 in it right now.
