The only advise that I can give you from where I sit here in my home office,
even though I have had 3 VW engines, is, have a very good VW mechanic go
through the entire engine, paying particular attention to the heads.  The
rings could be rusted and the cylinders pitted, who knows.  The valve
springs should be replaced after having been in the same compression for all
these years.

What Conversion brand is it, not that it really matters much?
