The only reason I could see for going with the thicker material would 
be if you anticipated an "eroding" type flame like a welders torch 
held very close.  Considering that Fiber-frax will be covered by a 
sheet of stainless steel, I'd go with the thinner material.  Consider 
my opinion to be worth the price you paid for it. :-)
