Its about time someone takes a step toward pricing a KR into the price range a
finished KR should be at. I know the KR is dimuntive in size compared to some
experimentals and I applaud the Mark Jones and the Mark Langfords for taking
the KR into the next level of size, speed and comfort.
But these guys are selling RV's and the like for ten times what guys are
willing to part with their KR's for.
I have a friend who has a glorified hang glider sport plane, cant think of the
name of it but I think he paid something like 46 grand for it. Its an ultra
light with a Rotax 583 !!!! It fly's at like 65 mph. 46 grand and guys are
selling Kr's for 8 grand.
No offense to anyone here but I applaud Troy for pricing his plane where he
has. I actually think it is more than a bargan for 20 grand. In fact, I think
it should be priced even higher. Find me one other plane that can do what his
plane can do for 20 grand.
Many of you know that I have went through some tough times and during them I
had my plane for sale for 16 grand. I had tire kickers but everyone wanted to
compare my plane to an unfinished or other KR priced in the 8 grand or so
range. Even as tough as things were for me, I refused to sell my plane for
less. Those of you that got to see it at the last gathering know its a very
nice example of a KR-2 and I appreciated the awards I got. Even if it was
started by someone else, I spent a lot of time putting it back together and
making it my plane.
Someday (after my sons sports car restoration and my other sons college) I am
going to build me another KR 2. But this time its going to be a Mark Jones
example of a KR that has everything. A 40 grand KR2.
Its time for KR's to earn the respect they deserve and pricing them where they
belong will help people realize the real value of a KR.
Didn't mean to offend, just wanted to rant a bit. Its our fault our planes sell
so cheap, we price them to.
ok,off my soap box.
