On the up side, I had a GOOD day on my KR. I recently removed the oil screen on my 0-200 to replace the oil temp probe and found considerable amounts of metal flakes on the screen. ( dirty words ) !!!!!. I had been remiss in checking the screen over the last 400 hours since the first flight and was concerned the engine was starting to come apart. I cleaned the screen and re-installed and decided to run it 10 hours and check it again. I later got to thinking about the gears I trashed when first trying to start the engine with the pull starter not properly engaged. I had removed the accessory case and cleaned it well when replacing the gears and also removed the oil pan and cleaned it well also but was hoping the metal was from debris I had missed. Good news, I removed the screen on Saturday and found no metal !!!!!! I also checked my notes and found the engine had gone nearly 12 hours since adding he last quart of oil. Not bad for and engine with 2200+ hours since factory overhaul. Oil was due for a change so I changed it this morning and did a bit of cleanup to get ready for the Gathering. It's going to be here before you know it. Have a good week............ Larry Flesner
