I just wanted to report that I had a fantastic Saturday and I hope represented the KR aircraft and the KRnet to my best. Yesterday I participated in the AirFest airshow when it came to my airport, Georgetown Scott County airport in Georgetown Kentucky.
A plug for my airport, it received the airport of the year award from the FAA. There were several war birds including a Folke Wolf and a Chinese fighter trainer and others. B 17 rides and fly by's, antiques, modern aircraft, parachute jumpers demonstrations and more. Several thousand people were on hand to watch a great show. What was so special to me was that I won two first place awards for Best Overall Experimental and Best instrument panel. I must admit, it was interesting, unexpected and surprising to see a crowd around my plane all day. Eventually, I was asked to park my plane in front of the main stage for the rest of the show and to come on stage to speak to the crowd about my plane and experimental airplanes. I was honored to win awards because there were so many beautiful planes. I was also honored to represent the KR group and speak about how this group is so helpful and instrumental in the success of the KR aircraft. It was a day filled with a lot of people asking questions and they all wanted to know all they could about my interesting little airplane. I must admit, it was interesting, unexpected and surprising to see a crowd around my plane all day. On top of the awards and speaking to the crowd and being interviewed by radio and TV and being able to answer questions from so many people, especially the younger folks just getting interested in aviation. At times I felt like a sales representative for KR aircraft. Funny. I am proud to be a part of this great group and I hope I represented you all very well. I want to continue to give credit to so many of those in this group who have done so much. I want to name names but I am afraid I would leave out some names that have given so much to this group. I will try to post up some pictures for you all to see.
